Cathy Cuthbertson and Alan Bainbridge have both been helped by Elizabeth Finn Care. Cathy struggled on despite a debilitating illness without asking for help from anyone. Alan, a former nurse, was forced by his situation to apply for state benefits. He was turned down. Both were at desperation point when they applied to EFC. Says Cathy: “I would encourage anyone who is in a similar position to me to apply. Just put your pride to one side and take a chance on getting help from this wonderful organisation.
EFC saved my life and it could help save yours. There is no dignity in doing it all on your own: only more struggle and pain. You might feel because of your background you should be able to cope, but hard times and disasters happen to all of us regardless of who we are.
My advice is just go for it and apply – you’ve got nothing to lose.”
